Bringing the joy of live music to care homes and community groups.
At Matthew Douglas, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the power of live music.
That’s why we’re proud to support Fund Me a Singer – an initiative created by local performer and singing teacher Alice Pescott Frost to provide professional live performances for care homes, charities and community organisations that may otherwise struggle to afford entertainment.
Through our sponsorship, we’re helping bring memorable musical experiences to the people who need them most.
Because music isn’t just entertainment – it creates connection, sparks memories and brings people together.

Why we support Fund Me a Singer
The idea for Fund Me a Singer was born from Alice’s own experience working as an Activities Leader in a care home.
During her time there, she saw first-hand how difficult it could be to provide meaningful activities when budgets were stretched. Entertainment was often one of the first things to disappear, despite the remarkable difference it made to residents.
When live music filled the room, something special happened.
Residents who had been quiet all morning would suddenly begin singing every word. People smiled, laughed, clapped along and shared memories with one another.
Those experiences stayed with Alice long after she became a professional performer.
Rather than waiting for funding to become available, she wanted to create a way of bringing music directly into local communities.
Matthew Douglas was proud to help make that vision a reality.
Why music matters
Music has an extraordinary ability to connect people in ways few other activities can.
For older people, particularly those living with dementia, familiar songs can unlock memories, encourage conversation and provide moments of genuine happiness.
A live performance can:
- Encourage social interaction
- Improve mood and wellbeing
- Spark memories and conversation
- Reduce feelings of isolation
- Create enjoyable shared experiences for residents, families and carers
These moments may only last an afternoon, but the memories often last much longer.

A Night at the Musicals
One of the most popular performances available through Fund Me a Singer is A Night at the Musicals.
Featuring Alice Pescott Frost alongside pianist Cameron Cooper (subject to availability), the show celebrates songs from some of the world’s best-loved musicals.
The performance is designed specifically for care homes and community audiences, creating an engaging, uplifting experience that encourages singing along, reminiscing and plenty of smiles.
